History of the Southlake Chapter

The Southlake Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. was founded in 1996.  Mimi Talcott, who became the first president of the newly formed chapter, and her daughter, Angeline, had been active in the California community where they had previously resided. In the fall of 1995, Angeline, then a Carroll High School sophomore, encouraged her mother to start a new chapter in Southlake. Mimi, feeling that NCL, Inc. offered a wide variety of social and community service opportunities for both mothers and daughters, recruited members and formed the Southlake Prospective Chapter. Philanthropic organizations the group wished to support were researched and submitted to the National organization for approval. In 1997, the Chapter gained Provisional status; the Chapter’s first fashion show fund raiser was held in the spring of 1998. This very successful event had become an annual tradition. On April 24, 1998, the Chapter was granted Chartered Chapter status.
